Ja Morant is set to return Friday night against Utah, with the Grizzlies confirming his availability and planning to manage his minutes carefully, HoopsRumors.com.

He has missed the past 10 games due to a right calf strain but took part in a full practice this week, signaling that his recovery is nearly complete.

Before the injury, Morant’s season got off to an uneven start, as he posted solid averages but struggled with shooting efficiency while Memphis went 4-7.

That stretch also included a one-game team suspension. During his absence, he remained engaged on the bench and earned praise from head coach Tuomas Iisalo for his leadership.

Memphis has moved the ball better and been more efficient offensively without Morant, making his return an interesting test for the team’s chemistry.

The Grizzlies still won’t be fully healthy, though, as Zach Edey is expected to miss several weeks with ankle issues.

Off the court, Morant made headlines by buying 250 tickets for Friday’s game to give to fans.
