Victor Wembanyama is expected to return Saturday for the Spurs’ NBA Cup semifinal against Oklahoma City, with San Antonio listing the star big man as probable, via HoopsRumors.com.

He has missed the past 12 games after suffering a left calf strain on November 14, but signs this week pointed to him being close to a comeback.

That optimism was reinforced when head coach Mitch Johnson indicated earlier in the week that a return was very much possible.

Before the injury, Wembanyama was playing at an MVP-level pace, putting up dominant numbers while helping the Spurs win eight of their first 12 games.

Despite losing their defensive anchor, San Antonio has stayed competitive, going 9-3 in his absence by leaning more heavily on their offense.

If there are no late setbacks, Saturday could mark the first game this season with Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper all available.

Whether that group can slow down the 24-1 Thunder and earn a spot in the NBA Cup final remains an open question.
