Denver Nuggets head coach David Adelman highlighted his team’s disciplined approach after a 136-105 road win over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday.
“Everybody just trying to make the right play even all the way through the end of the fourth quarter… 35 assists, only 12 turnovers on the road is a great number,” he said, praising the Nuggets’ ball movement and decision-making.
Adelman credited Nikola Jokic’s all-around performance as a key factor in the victory. “A lot of everything… 36, 12, and eight through three quarters in 29 minutes. He played pick-and-roll as a handler, screened as a roller, and just makes the appropriate play throughout. He’s the best player alive, so it’s fun to watch him play,” he said.
The coach also emphasized the Nuggets’ professional approach, noting how preparation drives success regardless of game circumstances. “Reward yourself for the preparation you put into each game… nobody saying anything, just people like playing together. They bring the right attitude every day, and that leads to a professional approach whether you win or lose,” Adelman said.
Adelman highlighted bench contributions, including Jonas Valanciunas, who scored 15 points in the game. “Jonas is one of the funniest dudes I’ve ever been around… his attitude about his role has never wavered. He’s a joy to see every day,” Adelman said, stressing the importance of leadership and team cohesion.
The Nuggets’ 11th straight road win featured balanced scoring, with Peyton Watson adding 21 points and Cameron Johnson contributing 16. Jamal Murray and Tim Hardaway Jr. each scored 11, helping Denver shoot 59% overall and 41% from three-point range.
Adelman’s remarks highlighted how the Nuggets maintain focus and execution on the road. “Everybody knows how hard it is in the NBA just to keep yourself at that level, and I thought we did it tonight,” he said, underscoring the team’s consistency and chemistry.
Denver (18-6) will host the Houston Rockets on Monday, while Sacramento (6-19) looks to rebound at the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
