Nets guard Cam Thomas underwent an MRI earlier this week, and the team announced the scan showed his left hamstring strain is progressing. He has started on-court activities, but he will remain out and won’t be reevaluated for about two weeks.
Thomas was injured on November 5 against Indiana and has now missed 14 straight games. Based on the team’s timeline, he’ll be sidelined for at least four more, with December 21 against Toronto representing the earliest return date.
The 24-year-old has dealt with repeated hamstring trouble, straining the same left hamstring four times across the past two seasons. Last year he was limited to just 25 games because of it.
A first-round pick in 2021, Thomas has been both productive and polarizing during his time in Brooklyn. He excels as a scorer but hasn’t consistently contributed in other areas. In his seven appearances before the injury, he averaged 24.4 points, 2.9 assists, and 1.6 rebounds while shooting .408/.356/.875.
The Nets were 1-7 with him in the lineup and have gone 4-10 since, sitting at 5-17 overall and tied for the NBA’s fourth-worst record.
Thomas will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026 after accepting his one-year, $6 million qualifying offer this past offseason. Under that deal, he also holds veto power over any trade in the 2025/26 season.
