The Atlanta Hawks visit the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena on Saturday night, opening a critical stretch for both teams as they try to stabilize after difficult starts.

Atlanta enters at 13-11 and carries a three-game slide, including Friday’s 133-134 loss to the Denver Nuggets, when the club surrendered 44 points in the fourth quarter. The setback followed Wednesday’s 92-115 defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Washington owns a 3-18 mark and also rides a two-game skid after a 101-146 loss to the Boston Celtics on Thursday. The Wizards dropped their previous outing 102-121 at Philadelphia, continuing a defensive trend that has created problems throughout the opening quarter of the season.

The teams met once this year, with Washington winning 132-113 on November 25.

The Hawks list six players on the injury report, headlined by Trae Young, who remains out with a right knee MCL sprain after averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 assists in five appearances. Kristaps Porzingis is unavailable due to return-to-competition reconditioning, and his absence removes a 19.2-point scorer with 49.7 percent shooting.

Jacob Toppin remains sidelined with a right shoulder sprain, while N’Faly Dante is in concussion protocol. Nikola Djurisic and Eli John Ndiaye are out on G League assignments, leaving Atlanta with limited depth across the frontcourt and wing positions.

The reduced rotation places a significant load on Jalen Johnson, who leads Atlanta with 23.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game. Nickeil Alexander-Walker enters averaging 20.8 points with 39.6 percent three-point accuracy, and Onyeka Okongwu provides 15.8 points and 7.3 rebounds as the primary interior presence.

Washington’s injury list is longer, including seven players either out or questionable. Sharife Cooper is out with a right calf strain, while Bilal Coulibaly remains unavailable due to a right oblique strain after averaging 8.8 points across 12 games.

Tre Johnson is sidelined with a left hip flexor strain, Corey Kispert is out with a right thumb fracture, and rookie center Alex Sarr — who averages 19.1 points and 8.6 rebounds — is out with a right adductor strain.

Three Wizards enter with uncertain designations: Khris Middleton (right knee soreness), Tristan Vukcevic (right knee contusion), and Cam Whitmore (illness). Their availability could influence Washington’s scoring balance, especially with CJ McCollum averaging 18.1 points but facing heavy defensive attention.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET as both teams attempt to navigate depleted lineups while trying to stop losing streaks in early-season play.
