Derrick White scored a season-high 30 points and the Boston Celtics overwhelmed the Washington Wizards 146–101 on Thursday night at Capital One Arena.
Boston improved to 13–9 and won for the eighth time in its last 10 games despite missing Jaylen Brown, who was sidelined with an illness.
White added nine assists and seven rebounds while shooting 12-for-21 from the field, setting the tone for an offense that finished with 54 made field goals and 35 assists.
Jordan Walsh supplied a career-high 22 points on a perfect 8-for-8 shooting night, giving the Celtics a boost on the wing in Brown’s absence.
Boston controlled the game immediately, opening with a 32-point first quarter and stretching the margin to 37–4 midway through the second before Washington briefly responded with a 12–0 run.
The Celtics never lost grip of the matchup and outscored the Wizards 43–27 in the third quarter to push the game out of reach.
Payton Pritchard added 20 points and eight assists as Boston’s starters combined for 99 points and 31 assists.
Neemias Queta finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in 21 minutes, anchoring Boston’s interior defense and providing early rim protection.
Anfernee Simons scored 16 off the bench, and Xavier Tillman, Baylor Scheierman and Hugo Gonzalez each contributed in a second unit that kept the pressure on throughout the night.
The Celtics shot 55% from the field and 43% from deep while holding Washington to 42% overall.
C.J. McCollum led the Wizards with 22 points, and Khris Middleton added 16, but Washington fell to 3–18 and absorbed its worst loss of the season.
Kyshawn George finished with 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting, though Washington struggled to generate consistent offense and committed 18 turnovers.
The Wizards were outscored 37–15 in the fourth quarter as Boston’s reserves closed the game with the same pace and efficiency the starters established.
Washington has now lost 10 straight matchups against the Celtics, who swept last season’s series and remain a difficult stylistic challenge due to their spacing and guard play.
The Wizards also continued to search for lineup stability, with bench contributors Cam Whitmore and Malaki Branham combining for just six points on 2-for-14 shooting.
Boston improved to 6–5 on the road and returns home Friday night to host the Los Angeles Lakers in the second half of a back-to-back.
Washington remains home to face the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday as it looks to regroup after its heaviest defeat of the season.
