Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain struggled noticeably when he first returned from his extended injury absence, showing signs of rust and hesitation as he tried to regain his footing.
However, his performance has taken a clear step forward recently.
Over his last six games, McCain has averaged 12.7 points in 25.8 minutes while shooting an efficient .453 from the field, .419 from three, and .833 at the free throw line – a strong indication that he’s reclaiming his rhythm.
Reflecting on the early part of his comeback, McCain admitted the adjustment period was difficult.
“I feel like I’m back to myself,” the second-year guard said, per Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“… I remember in the beginning when I first came back, I was like, ‘Dang, am I ever going to get this burst back at all?’ But just trusting the process, and now I’m here.”
