The Boston Celtics remain open to keeping Jaylen Brown despite actively exploring the trade market following unsuccessful negotiations with the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
According to The Stein Line, Boston does not believe it is under pressure to move Brown this offseason and considers a reconciliation with the All-Star forward to be a realistic outcome if the right trade never materializes.
Around the league, however, many executives continue to believe the Celtics will ultimately decide to trade Brown before next season begins rather than carry the current situation into training camp.
If Boston does move Brown, the organization is expected to seek a return that keeps the team in championship contention alongside Jayson Tatum instead of pursuing a long-term rebuild.
Another possible outcome remains a contract extension.
Brown becomes eligible in July to sign a two-year, $141.8 million extension, giving both sides another opportunity to reaffirm their long-term partnership if they choose not to part ways.
