The FIBA ranking received its first update under the revised calculation system following the completion of the opening window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers.

USA remained atop the standings after sweeping Nicaragua in the Americas Qualifiers.

Germany stayed second after handling Israel and Cyprus in European Qualifiers, maintaining momentum from their World Cup 2023 and EuroBasket 2025 titles.

The rest of the top 10 showed no movement, but several teams tightened the margins. Canada closed the gap on France after going 2-0, while France split its two games in the window.

Lithuania’s 1-1 finish kept it just ahead of Brazil, who picked up two wins and sits within striking distance heading into the February 2026 window.

The first shift in the table appears at No. 11, where Türkiye moved ahead of Latvia after collecting two victories. Latvia slipped to No. 12 following a 1-1 finish and faces pressure from Greece, who is only 0.3 points back after also going unbeaten.

Lebanon, Mexico, and Cape Verde posted the biggest jumps among Asia and Oceania, the Americas, and Africa, respectively.

Jamaica recorded one of the largest climbs of the entire update, rising eight spots to No. 87 after sweeping Puerto Rico. Qatar also surged five positions to No. 78 following a landmark win over Lebanon.

Guinea closed its African window as the lone 3-0 team and moved up two spots to No. 70. Rwanda rose nine positions to No. 81 after participating in the window, while Libya gained five spots to No. 91.

Four nations entered the rankings after the FIBA Melanesian Cup 2025. Papua New Guinea debuted at No. 157 as tournament champions, followed by Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, and Vanuatu. Fiji improved five places to No. 147 after reaching the final.
