Dallas Mavericks rookie Ryan Nembhard expressed high confidence after helping his team secure a 118-108 win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday at the American Airlines Center.

“Very high. Always,” Nembhard said when asked about his confidence, citing the work he puts in during practice and his focus on playing freely on the court.

Nembhard contributed 15 points and a season-high 13 assists, building on a career-high 28-point performance in the previous game, and emphasized his role in creating opportunities for his talented teammates. “I’m just trying to make the right play out there… give them the ball on time, on target,” he said.

The undrafted rookie also spoke on his developing chemistry with veteran Anthony Davis. “He makes the game real easy. You can just give it to him in the pocket and he’s going to do the rest,” Nembhard said, highlighting Davis’ scoring versatility and presence in the post.

Nembhard discussed his growing bond with fellow rookie Cooper Flagg, who scored 22 points in the win. “We’re both young guys experiencing the league… we got a lot of things we could bounce ideas off of each other,” he explained. Their combined decision-making and unselfish play contributed to the Mavericks’ offensive flow throughout the game.

Regarding Miami’s fast pace, Nembhard praised the Mavericks’ preparation. “They try and play fast… our coaches do a great job of getting us prepared and understanding the game plan,” he said, noting the team’s ability to adjust to the Heat’s style.

The Mavericks overcame a late push by Miami, including 21 points from Bam Adebayo, to maintain a lead and secure their third consecutive victory. Nembhard and Flagg scored the last eight points after the Heat cut the deficit to four with three minutes remaining.

Reflecting on his unique achievements, Nembhard noted becoming the first undrafted rookie point guard since 1967 to post 15 points and 10 assists in consecutive games. “It shows that my work is paying off… but you got to be consistent in this league,” he said.

Looking ahead, Nembhard stressed his focus remains on winning games rather than contract implications. “At the end of the day, if I go on the court and handle business… that will all take care of itself,” he said.

The Mavericks aim to extend their streak to four games against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, with Nembhard continuing to build confidence and playmaking consistency in his rookie season.
