The Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks meet Monday night at Little Caesars Arena with both teams monitoring several key health situations heading into their first matchup of the 2025-26 season.
Atlanta enters at 13–8 after a 142-134 win over Philadelphia. Detroit holds a 16–4 record and carries a two-game streak after a 138-135 win against Miami on November 29.
The Hawks list six players on the injury report. Trae Young remains sidelined with a right knee MCL sprain after appearing in only five games this year at 17.8 points and 7.8 assists per game.
Kristaps Porzingis is unavailable due to illness, removing an 18.7-point interior presence from the rotation. Jacob Toppin is out with a right shoulder sprain. Atlanta also has three players on G League assignment: N’Faly Dante, Nikola Djurisic, and Eli John Ndiaye.
That leaves the club relying heavily on Jalen Johnson, who leads the roster at 22.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game across 34.7 minutes.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker enters averaging 20.1 points and 2.6 made threes per game, while Onyeka Okongwu provides 16.2 points and 7.4 rebounds. Dyson Daniels continues to handle secondary initiation duties with 6.0 assists per game.
Detroit’s injury report is longer but includes several players trending toward availability. Jalen Duren is listed as probable with a left lower leg contusion. He enters the night averaging 19.5 points and 11.8 rebounds on .654 shooting and anchors the team physically in the paint.
Caris LeVert is also probable with right knee soreness. He provides 9.6 points in a bench role across 14 appearances. Duncan Robinson is questionable with a right ankle sprain after averaging 12.6 points and 3.1 made threes.
Bobi Klintman remains out with a left ankle sprain, and Marcus Sasser continues reconditioning. Detroit also lists Wendell Moore Jr. and Tolu Smith as two-way or G League assignments.
Cade Cunningham enters the night as Detroit’s leading scorer at 28.8 points and 9.4 assists while logging 36.7 minutes per game.
Tobias Harris, Isaiah Stewart, and Ausar Thompson stabilize the frontcourt rotation, combining for strong rebounding numbers and reliable scoring across three positions.
