Michael Porter Jr. has been one of the few consistent positives for a rebuilding Brooklyn Nets team, delivering some of the strongest numbers of his career across multiple categories.

But the 27-year-old forward was unavailable for Friday’s matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers after experiencing lower back tightness.

Brian Lewis of The New York Post noted on Twitter that the team had yet to determine whether Porter’s absence would be brief or something that might linger.

Head coach Jordi Fernandez made it clear that the Nets won’t take any risks with Porter’s health.

When asked about the situation, Fernandez said, “Obviously we’re never going to rush him. His health, body, is the No. 1 priority. We’re not concerned … We’ll give an update after the game.”

Porter has played 7 seasons for the Nuggets and Nets. He has averaged 16.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in 361 regular-season games.

He has won 1 NBA championship.
