After the Kings were blown out by the Grizzlies on Thursday, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine spoke openly about the mounting frustrations surrounding the team.

Sacramento has struggled to find stability, and both veterans admitted the emotional toll is growing.

Asked where the team stands mentally, DeRozan didn’t hold back.

“In a s—ty place,” DeRozan said. “Don’t nobody want to lose the way we’ve been losing … Sometimes when you’re in the deep end, it’s hard to hear anything. You’re just trying to swim your way out, one way or another.”

DeRozan also acknowledged uncertainty about his own future amid the losing.

“I’m pretty sure everything comes into question when you’re in the situation like we’re in now … Only time will tell. We’ll see.”

LaVine expressed his own frustrations, especially with his role and usage.

“I’m not my best self when I take eight to 10 shots,” he said. “I can be as efficient as you want me to be. But if I’m taking eight shots, it’s like, what are we doing?”

He said he tried to be more assertive, but it didn’t translate to a win.

“We’re just trying to get a win right now … Only time will tell … Still a lot of season left … We gotta fight for something.”

LaVine added that sitting out late-game moments has been difficult.

“I’ll always be a team guy … (But) personally, I don’t like it. I’ve never not played in the fourth.”
