The Washington Wizards found themselves extremely thin in the frontcourt on Friday night.

Second-year center Alex Sarr was unavailable for the second straight game because of soreness in his left big toe, continuing an issue that first sidelined him earlier in the week.

Marvin Bagley III, who had started in Sarr’s place on Wednesday and logged nearly 31 minutes, was also ruled out after suffering a right hip contusion.

Losing both players at once left Washington without two of its top interior presences, and the impact was immediately noticeable.

The Wizards couldn’t match Toronto’s physicality inside and were overwhelmed on the boards, getting out-rebounded 48–29.

The lack of size and depth contributed directly to a 30-point blowout loss, one of their most lopsided defeats of the season.

With Sarr and Bagley both uncertain moving forward, Washington may have to rely more heavily on small-ball lineups or reserve options until their frontcourt regains its health.
