Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. revealed that the organization has advised him to “steer clear” of certain topics during podcast appearances.
Speaking on the Ball in the Family podcast, Porter Jr. said, “For the most part I’m chilling, I’m not trying to say nothing crazy no more.”
Porter Jr. has distinguished himself from many NBA players by openly discussing topics beyond basketball, including women, men competing in women’s sports, WNBA matters, and other personal viewpoints. His candid style has drawn attention but now comes under guidance from the team to avoid potential controversy.
Porter Jr. has maintained a relatively low profile on court this season but has used podcasting as a platform to share perspectives beyond the game.
Although Porter Jr. has not specified which topics are off-limits, the player appears to be moderating his approach while continuing to participate in podcasts.
The 6-foot-10 forward remains a key contributor for Brooklyn on the court, averaging career-high 24.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 32.6 minutes per game. However, his contributions haven’t prevented the Nets from struggling. The team won only two of its first 14 games of the season.
