AS Monaco Basket announced Monday that it received a provisional measure from Euroleague Basketball’s Finance Panel. The measure temporarily prevents the club from registering new players or coaches in EuroLeague competitions.

The club emphasized that the restriction is procedural and does not constitute a sanction or final ruling. AS Monaco stated it has consistently acted in full transparency and maintained a solid financial position.

Monaco’s management confirmed it will provide all requested documentation and clarifications to EuroLeague authorities. The team remains focused on its sporting objectives and representing the Principality with professionalism and ambition.

The announcement comes amid increased scrutiny of French EuroLeague teams. LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne was recently fined for failing to meet financial sustainability requirements for the 2025–26 season.

ASVEL fell short of the minimum player remuneration threshold set by EuroLeague regulations, prompting disciplinary action. The club must now distribute the difference among its contracted players or risk additional sanctions.

AS Monaco’s budget for the current season is €38.7 million, which club officials say supports compliance with all financial regulations. The team emphasized that it has met every obligation toward institutional partners promptly.

Euroleague Basketball enforces the “Competition Balance Standards” to promote parity and long-term financial stability among clubs. The standards ensure spending aligns with market revenue and prevent competitive imbalances.

The Finance Panel’s provisional measure mirrors ASVEL’s situation but is procedural in Monaco’s case. AS Monaco expects a swift resolution while continuing to compete at the highest level in Europe.
