Head coach Mike Brown has recently shortened the New York Knicks’ rotation to nine players, according to The New York Daily News’ Kristian Winfield.
The adjustment, made over the team’s last two games, appears aimed at bringing greater consistency and structure to the lineup.
In Sunday’s matchup against the Bulls, Brown’s bench featured Josh Hart, Landry Shamet, Miles McBride, and Jordan Clarkson.
The following night, with center Mitchell Robinson resting for load management reasons, Shamet was elevated to the starting lineup while Guerschon Yabusele filled a role off the bench.
Brown said the tighter rotation has helped the players better understand their roles and rhythm within games.
“The last two nights were the best I’ve done for them in terms of rotations,” he explained. “They kinda sorta knew when they were coming out or going in, who was going to play together.”
The change appears to have paid off, as the Knicks have won two straight games and shown improved cohesion on both ends of the floor.
