After spending three days in the G League with the Windy City Bulls, rookie forward Noa Essengue has been recalled to the Chicago Bulls’ main roster, the team announced Wednesday.

With Chicago not scheduled to play again until Friday, Essengue will likely get the chance to participate in practices and continue developing under the NBA staff this week.

Head coach Billy Donovan reiterated that the Bulls always intended to take a long-term approach with the 18-year-old forward, who was one of the youngest players selected in this year’s draft.

Donovan said the organization’s plan from the beginning was to balance his development between NBA and G League experience.

“This is a guy at 18 years old who has a huge runway in front of him to get better and to improve, but we’re going to have to invest in his development,” Donovan said, according to The Chicago Sun-Times’ Joe Cowley.

“It may not be with us. It may be going back and forth between us and the G League. Those were things discussed back in June.”
