Serbian center Nikola Jokic came close to another triple-double, finishing with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists, but the Denver Nuggets fell short in a 109-107 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The defeat ended Denver’s franchise cornerstone’s bid for a fifth consecutive triple-double to start the season.

Despite Jokic’s strong performance, the Trail Blazers rallied late to secure the win, led by Israeli forward Deni Avdija, who scored a team-high 23 points and played a key role down the stretch.
