The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Friday that forward Jalen Williams recently underwent a minor procedure to remove a screw from his surgically repaired right wrist.

The move marks one of the final steps in his recovery process as he works toward returning to game action.

According to the team, Williams will be re-evaluated in 10 to 14 days, meaning he is expected to miss at least the first 11 games of the regular season.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined since the offseason due to the wrist injury but is reportedly progressing well in his rehabilitation.

Williams, who signed a contract extension with Oklahoma City in July, has supermax escalators built into his deal that could be triggered if he earns an All-NBA selection this season.

While his absence is a setback, the Thunder have started strong without him, opening the year with a perfect 6-0 record.
