Despite claims from his attorney that the NBA “cleared him two years ago,” league officials say Terry Rozier was never officially cleared in the 2023 investigation into suspicious betting activity, according to reporter Pablo Torre.

A league source told Torre, “Terry’s investigation was never closed, so he was not cleared of anything. Us not being able to find something is not the same as cleared.”

The NBA hired the law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz to examine unusual “under” prop bets tied to a March 2023 Hornets game. Rozier cooperated with the probe, turning over his phone and speaking via Zoom.

Although no direct evidence was found, the case was passed to federal authorities, and Rozier continued to play.

Now, the player faces federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.

Prosecutors allege he told friend De’Niro Laster he’d remove himself early from that game, leading to $259,000 in bets that cashed when he exited in the first quarter.

Torre added that Malik Beasley is also under federal and NBA investigation for potential betting violations. While Beasley was previously cleared for betting on other sports, the current probe remains open, with no proof found of him influencing games.

Beasley remains unsigned since the case surfaced this summer.
