Zalgiris Kaunas announced the arrival of point guard Leo Westermann, who has penned a one-year deal with a team option to extend the contract until the end of the 2017-18 season.

Westermann (1.96 meters, 23 years old) arrives from French powerhouse Limoges CSP, where he averaged 10.1 points on 88.9% free throw shooting and 4.3 assists in 10 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season.

Westermann also played the 2015-16 Eurocup with Limoges, averaging 8.4 points on 41.4% three-point shooting and 4.1 assists in 8 games.

Despite his young age, Westermann brings four seasons of Euroleague experience: two with Partizan Belgrade of Serbia and two more with Limoges.

He has also played for Centre Federal du Basket-ball and Asvel Lyon Villeurbanne of his native France.

He helped Partizan win the Serbian League and the Adriatic League titles in 2013, as well as to lift the French League trophy with Limoges in 2015.

Westermann is also a member of the French national team, which he helped to win a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2015. He also won three medals in youth categories with France at U20 and U18 European Championships.
