After beginning his NBA journey with the Boston Celtics as a relatively overlooked player, Aaron Nesmith has found both stability and purpose in Indiana.
Now, after signing a two-year contract extension with the Pacers, Nesmith expressed deep gratitude for his opportunity and his commitment to helping the team build something lasting.
“It’s awesome,” Nesmith said, as quoted by Dustin Dopirak of the Indy Star.
“Second contract is a big deal for a lot of guys and for this one, it was really, like I said, just really stamping that I want to bring a championship to this city and continue to build this thing up. That was all this deal was about.”
Nesmith’s extension further solidifies his role as a key piece in Indiana’s young core, a major step up from his early years in Boston when his playing time and role were uncertain.
His emergence as a reliable two-way wing has been an important development for the Pacers’ rotation and culture.
Head coach Rick Carlisle praised the move, emphasizing both Nesmith’s value on the court and his leadership within the locker room.
“He’s a proven starter on a championship-caliber team,” Carlisle said. “The opportunity to keep him in the fold for an additional two years is a great event for the franchise. Happy for him. Happy for the organization.”
