The Hornets have waived Jonas Aidoo, the team confirmed on Twitter, setting him up to join their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, in the coming weeks.
Charlotte had officially signed Aidoo earlier, as announced in a team press release on Twitter.
As is typical with preseason additions, Aidoo is believed to have been signed to an Exhibit 10 contract, which would make him eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 if he’s waived before the season and spends at least 60 days with the Swarm.
A native of Durham, North Carolina, Aidoo played three seasons at Tennessee before transferring to Arkansas for 2024/25. In 33 games with the Razorbacks, including 15 starts, he averaged 6.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 18.9 minutes per game.
He went undrafted in June and entered free agency.
As Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer noted on Twitter, Charlotte opened a roster spot by waiving Ibou Badji, keeping the Hornets at the 21-player offseason limit.
