The Dallas Mavericks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 106-89 in a preseason matchup on Monday, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Cooper Flagg tallied 10 points in his debut for the Mavericks.
Dallas opened a 29-20 lead after the first quarter. The hosts extended it to 66-40 by halftime with 37 second-quarter points.
P.J. Washington led Dallas with 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Max Christie added 12 points off the bench, including two dunks.
Jaden Hardy also scored 12 for the Mavericks. Anthony Davis grabbed seven rebounds to go with his seven points.
Oklahoma City shot 30.9% from the field. The Thunder made 14 of 51 threes at 27.5%. Brooks Barnhizer paced OKC with 16 points. Jaylin Williams contributed 14 points and six rebounds.
Ousmane Dieng finished with 12 points and six assists. Jazian Gortman added 12 off the bench. Zack Austin scored 13 for the Thunder. Dallas outrebounded OKC 58-43.
The Mavericks scored 46 points in the paint. They converted 27 of 30 free throws at 90%.
Flagg dished three assists in 14 minutes. He hit two threes and blocked one shot.
OKC narrowed the gap to 82-66 after three quarters. Dallas pulled away in the fourth with 24 points.
Klay Thompson scored five points in 15 minutes. D’Angelo Russell handed out five assists.
The Thunder forced 21 turnovers from Dallas. OKC committed 14 themselves.
Dallas connected on 42% of shots overall. The Mavericks made 11 of 35 threes.
Dwight Powell pulled down seven rebounds. Moussa Cisse blocked three shots in limited action.
Oklahoma City’s bench tallied 43 points. Dallas reserves outscored them 54-43.
Ryan Nembhard scored five for the Mavericks. Naji Marshall grabbed three steals.
