Myles Turner spoke at length about his move to Milwaukee during the Bucks’ 2025 Media Day, expressing excitement about his new chapter in the NBA.
“I’m in a city now that wants to celebrate me,” Turner said. “Somewhere they didn’t know. There’s a great quote that says, go where you’re celebrated. I feel like that’s here.”
The 29-year-old center, entering his 11th NBA season, emphasized embracing change as he joins a Bucks team built around Giannis Antetokounmpo. Turner described his role as a two-way player capable of defending the rim and stretching the floor to complement Giannis.
“I might be asked to do more now than I’ve done in the past,” Turner said. “There are parts of my game I’ll be able to embrace more here.”
Turner highlighted the positive reception he has received in Milwaukee, noting that fans and the community have welcomed him warmly. “It comes to a point where I’m comfortable just walking around in public. People are literally just, ‘Hey, we’re so excited to have you,’” he said.
Reflecting on his departure from Indiana, Turner acknowledged the emotional aspect of leaving a team he had been with his entire career. “It’s kind of bitter,” he admitted. “These guys are people you consider your brothers. Unfortunately, it is a business, and that’s basically what it turned into.”
Turner also discussed the competitive edge he brings to the Bucks, noting his pride in being a modern center who can impact both offense and defense. “Coming into this league, guys weren’t really doing what I was doing,” he said. “Being one of the guys who’s done it at a league level for quite some time now, I think it’s going to be important for this team.”
The new Bucks frontcourt addition sees the move as an opportunity to help the team play faster and more aggressively on both ends of the floor. Turner praised Milwaukee’s scrappy roster and believes his versatility will allow him to defend the perimeter, protect the rim, and make the offense more dynamic.
Turner also noted the motivation he brings from last season’s NBA Finals loss. “Not winning the championship gave me a renewed sense of purpose,” he said. “Now I’m in an organization that’s done it before, and we share a similar mindset.”
The Bucks signed Turner to a four-year, $107 million deal this summer, adding a player option for 2028-29. His presence alongside Giannis is expected to strengthen Milwaukee’s defense and create a more balanced offensive attack as the team aims for a championship run.
