Josh Giddey has committed to the Chicago Bulls with a four-year, $100 million contract, finalizing discussions that had drawn out over the summer.
The 22-year-old guard, acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in June 2024, emphasized that Chicago was always his preferred destination. “They embraced me from day one — teammates, front office, and the fans — and it felt like home really quickly,” Giddey said, via basketball.com.au.
Giddey noted that contract considerations never distracted him from playing. “It wasn’t at the forefront of my mind at all. I knew at the end of the season it was going to be negotiated,” he explained.
During his first season in Chicago, Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game, demonstrating his ability to contribute across all areas of the court.
The Bulls initially offered a four-year, $80 million deal, later raising it to $88 million before ultimately agreeing to $100 million, securing the restricted free agent’s long-term future with the team.
Giddey highlighted the importance of his relationships in the city and organization. “I built really good relationships with people, not only in the organization but outside of the building, and it felt like home quickly,” he said.
Reflecting on last season, Giddey credited the team’s progress for his confidence. “What we did last year, particularly in the back half of the year, gave me a lot of confidence that this team was able to continue to take steps in the right direction,” he noted.
He also confirmed that his commitment was clear from the start. “Right from the jump, I made sure my agent knew this is where I wanted to be. I want to be here long-term,” Giddey added.
