Dusan Alimpijevic has been appointed as the new head tactician of the Serbian national team, replacing its former 76-year-old Svetislav Pesic, whose contract expires on Tuesday, according to Eurohoops.

Alimpijevic signed a contract that will last through the following three years, possibly seeing him take charge in the FIBA World Cup 2027 and the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.

The new 39-year-old coach is currently part of the BKT EuroCup and Turkiye Basketbol Super Ligi outfit Besiktas Gain, as this prevents him from coaching in the World Qualifiers. Its debut on the national team would be on late November.

He made his name coaching young talent in the Adriatic League with a club that developed Serbian prospects. The new Serbian head coach also became one of the youngest head coaches in EuroLeague history, at the age of 31.
