Cedi Osman has not fully recovered from injury and will not take part in Panathinaikos Aktor’s EuroLeague opener for the 2025–26 Regular Season against FC Bayern Munich.

The game is scheduled for Tuesday at the Telekom Center in Athens. While he continues to work out on an individual basis, the Turkish forward has been officially ruled out, and his participation in Friday’s Round 2 clash with FC Barcelona at home also remains doubtful.

The 31-year-old has been unavailable since suffering an injury with Turkey’s senior national team during the knockout phase of EuroBasket 2025.

Head coach Ergin Ataman had initially expressed optimism that Osman might recover in time for the first week of EuroLeague action, but medical clearance has not been granted, leaving the prospect of him missing both of Panathinaikos’ opening games.

Osman, who accumulated 495 NBA appearances with the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs between 2017 and 2024, joined Panathinaikos ahead of last season.

In April 2025, the club secured his services for the longer term by extending his contract through the 2026–27 campaign.

Panathinaikos are already coping without Mathias Lessort, who is expected to stay sidelined for several more weeks. However, the rest of the roster is available, including point guard T.J. Shorts II, who has now recovered from illness.

“The most important thing is to be mentally ready after such a long pause,” noted coach Ataman. “The official games are here, and we must approach them with full focus.”

On the opposing side, Bayern Munich will also be shorthanded. Rokas Jokubaitis and Johannes Voigtmann are out after injuries sustained while representing Lithuania and Germany, respectively, at EuroBasket 2025.

In addition, Elias Harris remains unavailable due to a knee injury he suffered in June, leaving head coach Gordon Herbert with reduced frontcourt options.
