The Memphis Grizzlies announced that forward Brandon Clarke is undergoing arthroscopic surgery to treat synovitis in his right knee.
Clarke’s PCL sprain from March has healed, but recent inflammation prompted the procedure.
While a return timeline will be set afterward, he’s expected to make a full recovery.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Clarke will be sidelined at least six weeks before being reevaluated.
It’s the latest setback for Clarke, who also lost most of the 2023/24 season to a torn Achilles.
Memphis also gave updates on two other key frontcourt players.
Rookie Zach Edey, recovering from June ankle surgery, has been cleared for basketball activities but isn’t expected back for six to nine weeks.
Jaren Jackson Jr., who had turf toe surgery in July, should return in four to six weeks.
On the positive side, first-round pick Cedric Coward has been cleared for full training camp after a shoulder injury.
With Clarke, Edey, and Jackson all likely to miss the start of the season, the Grizzlies will lean on Santi Aldama and Jock Landale for early frontcourt minutes.
