Jalen Green addressed the media during the 2025 Phoenix Suns Media Day, reflecting on his recent trade from Houston. Green, acquired in a seven-team deal that sent Kevin Durant to the Rockets, emphasized his excitement about joining the Suns’ young, talented roster.
“I picked up with everybody very fast. Everyone is cool and has the same goals and mentality,” Green said. He highlighted the importance of team chemistry and early relationship-building ahead of training camp.
Green pointed to Suns coach Jordan Ott’s emphasis on spacing and fast-paced play as key to maximizing his scoring potential. “He wants to play with a lot of space… playing fast and playing hard and getting out and running,” Green explained.
The 23-year-old guard, entering his fifth NBA season, reflected on his development in Houston. Green credited his prior playoff experience and consistent workload for slowing down the game mentally, helping him grow as a scorer and leader.
Green also discussed his partnership with center Mark Williams, noting his excitement for pick-and-roll opportunities and lob threats. “It’s going to be exciting just to have that rim roller like that,” he said.
Playing alongside Devin Booker was another factor that attracted Green to the Suns. He expects the duo to complement each other offensively while creating opportunities for teammates. “I think we’re going to be able to create a lot for each other and create for others,” he said.
The guard reflected on his ability to stay healthy, playing all 82 games the past two seasons. He credited a combination of tailored offseason programs, in-season maintenance, and consistent communication with the training staff.
Green also shared the focus of his summer work, emphasizing the development of his mid-range and “in-between” game. He is aiming to become a more complete scorer capable of adapting in playoff situations.
Looking ahead, Green believes the Suns’ blend of youth, talent, and veteran leadership positions them well for the 2025–26 season. He expressed confidence that the team’s mentality and work ethic will translate into success on the court.
