Karl-Anthony Towns emphasized that his only preference heading into the 2025–26 season is winning. The Knicks center declined to comment on specific lineup positions, focusing instead on team success.

“My preference is winning. That’s the only preference I got,” Towns told the reporters.

Towns was acquired by New York in a three-team trade on October 2, 2024. He quickly made an impact, posting 44 points and 13 rebounds in his Knicks debut against the Miami Heat, marking the highest-scoring game by a Knicks center since Patrick Ewing in 1995.

Throughout the 2024–25 season, Towns recorded multiple standout performances. He scored 46 points on 60% shooting against the Chicago Bulls and registered 32 points and 20 rebounds in his first game back at Minnesota’s Target Center.

His December play earned him Eastern Conference Player of the Month as the Knicks went 12–2, with Towns averaging 23.2 points, 14.6 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.

Towns was named an Eastern Conference starter for the 2025 All-Star Game and posted consecutive 40-point games in February, joining Knicks legends like Patrick Ewing and Carmelo Anthony in franchise history.

He also recorded his first Knicks triple-double in March with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists against the Dallas Mavericks. Towns continued to shine in the playoffs, scoring a career-high 35 points with 12 rebounds in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Despite Towns’ strong individual contributions, the Knicks fell to Indiana in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. He finished the playoffs averaging 21.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists over 18 games.

Entering the 2025–26 season, Towns joins a roster featuring Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and other key contributors under new head coach Mike Brown.
