The Brooklyn Nets have adjusted their roster once again, creating space ahead of training camp by waiving guard Yuri Collins, according to Brian Lewis of The New York Post.
Collins had just signed a one-year deal with a partial guarantee of $85,300 last Friday, similar to the recent short-lived agreements with David Muoka and D’Andre Davis.
Like those players, Collins’ contract was designed less as a long-term addition and more as a mechanism to set up his likely move to the G League.
The deal functioned much like an Exhibit 10 contract, though the Nets will carry the $85,300 cap hit into the season. That small number helps Brooklyn edge closer to meeting the league’s minimum salary floor before opening night.
Collins, a 6’0″ point guard, has been building his career in the NBA G League since going undrafted out of Saint Louis University in 2023.
Over the past two seasons with the Santa Cruz Warriors, he emerged as a playmaking specialist.
In 49 games last year, he logged averages of 13.7 points, 10.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per contest, while shooting .412 from the field, .264 from beyond the arc, and .780 at the free-throw line.
He briefly reached the NBA stage with Golden State during the 2024/25 campaign, signing a 10-day contract and appearing in two games.
In limited minutes, Collins recorded two points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals, marking his first taste of the league.
Brooklyn’s decision leaves them with 20 players under contract – just one below the offseason maximum – as training camp approaches.
