The Washington Wizards have added free agent guard Sharife Cooper to a two-way contract, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic (Twitter link).
Alongside him, Washington also signed Keshon Gilbert and Jonathan Pierre to Exhibit 10 deals, as confirmed by the team via Twitter.
Cooper, selected 48th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, has a familiar connection with the Wizards’ front office.
Robbins notes that Travis Schlenk, now Washington’s senior vice president for player personnel, was president of the Hawks when Cooper was drafted.
During his rookie season in Atlanta, Cooper appeared in 13 games, averaging just three minutes per contest. He then spent three seasons in the G League, compiling averages of 19.3 points and 7.0 assists per game.
Last year, he played across Europe, splitting time in the Greek, French, and Turkish leagues, and recorded 14.7 points and 3.8 assists per game in EuroCup action.
With Cooper joining Tristan Vukcevic and Jamir Watkins, the Wizards now have three players on two-way contracts.
Keshon Gilbert’s signing had been previously reported, while Jonathan Pierre, a 6’9 forward who averaged 7.7 points in 22.2 minutes per night for Washington’s Summer League team, was also officially added.
Both Gilbert and Pierre signed Exhibit 10 contracts, making them eligible for a bonus if waived and spending at least 60 days with the Wizards’ G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.
