After Germany dethroned Turkey with 88-83 during the gold medal game in the EuroBasket 2025, Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroder won the MVP award for leading his team to the championship stage.

Schroder led Germany in the last-minute takeover with the final clutch six points to maintain the lead. He finished with 16 points and 12 assists, becoming the team’s floor general.

It was his third medal representing Germany. He also became the World Champion in 2023, earning the MVP, and won the bronze medal in the EuroBasket 2022.

While Dirk Nowitzki remains the face of Germany as their greatest legend, Schroder was asked what it would take to spark a conversation about whether someone else could one day claim that title.

Schroder responded that he was not chasing about it, but rather creating his legacy and contributing to his country.

“Dirk is a guy who changed basketball for all the big guys,” Schroder said. “So, at the end of the day, I’m Dennis Schroder, and everybody got their own legacy.”

NBA stint

Meanwhile, a different scenario for him in the league, as various teams always sent him into the trading block in recent seasons. In the 2024-2025 season, he played with three teams, from the Brooklyn Nets to the Golden State Warriors to the Detroit Pistons.

They say, “FIBA Dennis Schroder is different.”

Schroder has to find his groove while in his prime; he has to convert what he can give during his FIBA stint with Germany. He has already proved enough internationally, where he deserves to have that green light in the profession.

The 6-foot-1 guard has a career average of 13.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 2.9 boards. The numbers could increase if he had that signal like in the international, which can lead to being a high-prize guard in the league.

He was expected to play for the Sacramento Kings this upcoming season, where he had a spot to be himself. With his accomplishments in the EuroBasket 2025, fans expect him to lead his team in the NBA if he can turn the tide similarly to Germany.
