Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd attended his first Everton home game since joining the Premier League club’s U.S. ownership group.

Kidd was at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday as Everton drew 0-0 with Aston Villa in front of a packed crowd. He shared photos and a short video of the kickoff on social media, writing: “What a thrill to be at @EvertonStadium today to watch @Everton battle Aston Villa!”

The appearance marked Kidd’s first public visit to Goodison Park’s successor stadium after being confirmed as part of Everton’s American investment group earlier this year. His attendance underscores the growing U.S. influence at Premier League clubs, with Everton among those expanding their international profile.

On the pitch, the Toffees had the better of the opportunities but were repeatedly denied by Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Michael Keane and Jack Grealish both came close, with Martinez producing key saves to keep the game scoreless.

Everton remain unbeaten at their new home after opening the stadium with a 2-0 victory over Brighton. David Moyes’ side now sit on seven points through four matches in the Premier League campaign.

For Villa, the goalless draw highlighted ongoing struggles in attack. Unai Emery’s squad has yet to score this season, leaving them with two points from four games and sitting in 19th place. Martinez’s performance provided the main positive, highlighted by a spectacular stop to tip over Keane’s header in the second half.

Kidd, who won an NBA title as a player in 2011 and guided Dallas back to the Western Conference Finals in 2022 as coach, is the latest NBA figure to cross over into soccer ownership. His involvement reflects the growing connection between American basketball and global football markets.
