Donte DiVincenzo’s first season with the Timberwolves Minnesota had its ups and downs, but The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski highlights several bright spots, especially during a stretch when he was asked to take on point guard duties.
In a six-game span, he averaged 17.5 points per game while hitting 42% of his three-point attempts, helping the Wolves to a 4-2 record.
Those performances suggest that, with Mike Conley advancing in age, DiVincenzo could have a real shot at claiming the starting point guard spot moving forward.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves also have second-year guard Rob Dillingham waiting in the wings.
At just 20 years old, it’s uncertain whether he is ready to make an immediate impact, particularly on a team with championship aspirations.
Still, having both DiVincenzo and Dillingham available gives Minnesota flexibility and depth at a key position as they continue to pursue title contention.
