Victor Wembanyama is back on the court and already turning heads.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported on his Substack that the San Antonio Spurs star participated in fullcourt runs at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles and “looked quite stellar.” It marked his first notable action since being sidelined in February with a blood clot that cut short his sophomore season.

Wembanyama’s absence was a major setback for San Antonio, as he had been averaging 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, and a league-leading 3.8 blocks before being shut down. His performance had already earned him his first All-Star selection at just 21 years old.

The 7-foot-4 phenom delivered historic stat lines last season, including a 50-point game against Washington and multiple five-by-five performances. He also became the youngest player in NBA history to record 30 points and 10 blocks in a single game.

Seeing him back in competitive runs is an encouraging sign for the Spurs, who have built their future around the French sensation. His ability to dominate both ends of the floor has positioned him as one of the league’s rising superstars.

Wembanyama’s return to basketball activities comes just weeks before the Spurs open training camp. The franchise has not yet provided a detailed update on his medical status, but his involvement in fullcourt play suggests progress in his recovery.

San Antonio finished last season near the bottom of the Western Conference, but Wembanyama’s health is viewed as the key to accelerating their rebuild. With him in the lineup, the Spurs have a cornerstone capable of reshaping the team’s trajectory.
