Germany kept their flawless record alive at FIBA EuroBasket 2025, dismantling Great Britain 120-57 in Tampere and showing once again why they are considered among the top contenders.
For a brief stretch, the British squad managed to keep things even, even leading early on, but Germany’s depth and efficiency quickly shifted the balance of the game.
The turning point came late in the first quarter. With Great Britain still trading baskets, Tristan Da Silva threw down a fast-break slam with 2:42 left in the period, energizing his team and sparking an 18-1 run that bridged into the second quarter.
By then, Germany had taken a 32-19 lead and never looked back, turning the game into a one-sided contest that ballooned to a 50-point margin. The dominance was particularly evident in the third quarter, which Germany won 30-9.
Franz Wagner earned TCL Player of the Game honors after a highly efficient performance. He hit 6-of-9 shots from the floor and posted a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists in just 18 minutes of action.
Da Silva led all scorers with 22 points, while Great Britain’s Myles Hesson fought hard and finished with a team-high 11.
The numbers told the story of Germany’s superiority. They were patient, efficient, and selective, connecting on 61 percent of their attempts by halftime.
Great Britain, meanwhile, leaned heavily on three-pointers, with 20 of their 42 first-half shots coming from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, they converted just 26 percent overall, which left them unable to keep pace once Germany pulled away.
Looking ahead, Germany’s last group game against Finland will determine the Group B winner, while Great Britain must regroup for a meeting with Montenegro, still holding faint hopes of earning their first victory and keeping their tournament alive.
Germany 🇩🇪 stay unblemished in Tampere, with another big victory!#EuroBasket
