The Dallas Mavericks have made it official: Dante Exum is back with the team. The guard re-signed with Dallas after the front office created the necessary flexibility under the league’s restrictive second-apron hard cap.

That move was made possible when the Mavericks waived and stretched Olivier-Maxence Prosper’s contract last week, opening the door for Exum’s return.

Exum, now 30, has become a steady presence in Dallas after reviving his NBA career overseas with Barcelona and Partizan. Before that, the Australian guard had previous stints with the Utah Jazz, who originally drafted him, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Injuries limited Exum to just 20 appearances last season, but when healthy, he provided valuable minutes on both ends of the floor.

Over his two-year tenure with the Mavericks so far, he has played in 75 games and posted averages of 8.0 points per game, shooting efficiently across the board with splits of 52 percent from the field, 47 percent from three-point range, and 77 percent from the free-throw line.
