Draymond Green has never been shy about making bold statements, and his latest promise will add fire to the Golden State Warriors’ upcoming campaign.
During a workout session with teammate Jimmy Butler, Green was recorded confidently predicting that the Warriors will win the 2025-26 NBA championship.
“Great,” Green said when asked about his preparation. “We about 6 weeks out. Right where I need to be, baby. And we getting that b*tch this year.”
The veteran forward’s declaration comes just months after Golden State’s turbulent 2024-25 season, which ended in the conference semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors fought through injuries, roster adjustments, and the midseason arrival of Butler before falling short of another Finals appearance.
Green, 35, has been a cornerstone of the Warriors’ dynasty, winning four titles alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. With Thompson now in Dallas, his leadership and intensity carry even more weight as Golden State begins its 80th season in franchise history.
Last year, Green averaged 9.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists across 68 games, proving he still impacts the game on multiple levels. His defensive presence remains central to Steve Kerr’s system, particularly as the roster evolves around Curry, Butler, and rising contributors like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.
Golden State has already undergone significant changes. The February trade that brought Butler to the Bay gave the team another proven playoff performer, while offseason draft-night maneuvering added prospects Alex Toohey and Will Richard to the mix.
Green’s guarantee raises the stakes as the Warriors enter training camp. The organization, which clinched a playoff berth through the Play-In Tournament last season, expects to contend immediately with a healthy roster. Curry’s return from injury and Butler’s first full season with the team provide optimism for a deeper run.
