Assistant coach Mike Weinar and the Indiana Pacers have officially decided to part ways, ending a long professional chapter together.
Weinar, who was briefly considered for a spot on Mike Brown’s coaching staff with the New York Knicks before withdrawing from the process earlier this month, leaves Indiana with a strong reputation across the league.
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle spoke glowingly about Weinar’s impact, both on and off the court:
“Mike Weinar has been a trusted friend and loyal colleague for more than 17 years. As a coach, he’s a proven winner, with two National Championship rings from his time with Florida Men’s Basketball in 2006 and 2007, and an NBA Championship ring from our 2011 title run in Dallas. Mike also played a major role in this year’s historic Finals run with the Pacers,” Carlisle said. “Mike’s exemplary character as a father, husband, and man has been evident to me for nearly two decades. Professional success has followed him everywhere, and I have no doubt it will continue in the future.”
Weinar’s departure marks the close of an era, but his coaching résumé – spanning college glory, an NBA championship, and Indiana’s 2025 Finals push – ensures his next opportunity won’t be far behind.
