The New York Knicks are exploring the possibility of adding Indiana Pacers assistant coach Mike Weinar to their revamped coaching staff, according to Ian Begley of SNY.
Weinar, who has worked under Rick Carlisle in both Dallas and Indiana, is being considered for a role alongside new Knicks head coach Mike Brown.
League sources told Begley that conversations between New York and Weinar are ongoing, though no deal has been finalized.
Brown was officially hired on July 7 following the firing of Tom Thibodeau in early June, marking a new chapter for the Knicks as they prepare for the 2025–26 season.
Weinar brings over a decade of NBA experience, having previously spent 13 seasons with the Mavericks, where he served in a variety of roles including offensive coordinator and game strategy specialist.
His analytical approach and familiarity with complex offensive systems have made him a respected figure around the league.
New York has also reshaped its roster this offseason, adding veterans like Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele, and acquiring Mohamed Diawara on draft night.
The Knicks’ coaching staff already includes Maurice Cheeks, Rick Brunson, and Darren Erman.
