Augustas Marciulionis is ready to fight for a place in the NBA. The 23-year-old Lithuanian guard signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and will compete for a full roster spot in training camp.
The son of basketball legend Sarunas Marciulionis, Augustas arrives in Los Angeles with plenty to prove. His draft stock dipped earlier this summer after suffering a broken foot ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft, but he now has an opportunity to show his value in one of the league’s most competitive environments.
“It was very strange,” Marciulionis told Vaidas Jukavicius of BasketNews. “That whole period of uncertainty—when I didn’t know how things would turn out—was tough. And then the Lakers option came along. But there’s still a lot to prove and a lot of work to earn a full contract.”
Marciulionis highlighted the confidence the Lakers showed in him throughout the process. “They showed me a lot of attention both in interviews and when it came to signing. I’m glad I’m in a good environment that believes in me—that’s the most important thing,” he said.
Before turning pro, Marciulionis spent four years at Saint Mary’s. He developed into a key playmaker by his junior and senior seasons, averaging 14.2 points, 5.9 assists, and 3.1 rebounds in 2024-25 while shooting 44.6 percent from the field.
Known for his court vision and ability to control tempo, Marciulionis is expected to compete for a depth role at point guard. His passing and decision-making could give him an edge, especially with the Lakers looking to solidify their backcourt rotation.
He also brings international experience. Marciulionis made his professional debut in 2018 with BC Perlas before spending time with Rytas Vilnius in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). That early exposure to professional basketball has helped shape his disciplined approach to the game.
The Exhibit 10 deal gives him a pathway to the Lakers’ regular-season roster but does not guarantee a spot. Training camp and preseason performances will determine whether he secures a standard contract or potentially begins the season in the G League.
