The New York Knicks are still exploring ways to strengthen their roster ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, and one surprising name has entered the trade rumor mill. According to Hoops Wire’s Sam AmicoMiles McBride could become a potential trade chip for New York.

“For the Knicks, Miles McBride is a good player who sometimes can be the odd man out in a minutes crunch. That probably won’t improve after Jordan Clarkson signed on. That makes McBride the name to watch here,” Amico reported.

McBride’s Role in Jeopardy

McBride has carved out a valuable role as a defensive spark plug and reliable guard off the bench, earning the status of a fan favorite at Madison Square Garden. However, the Knicks’ recent signing of Jordan Clarkson is expected to significantly cut into his playing time.

On top of that, reports suggest New York could use its final roster spot to sign another veteran guard. If that happens, McBride’s minutes could take yet another hit, putting his role in further jeopardy.

A Tough Decision for New York

While trading McBride wouldn’t be an easy move considering his popularity and defensive value, the Knicks may view him as one of the few expendable assets if they look to upgrade at another position.

As the season approaches, the question looms: will the Knicks hold on to their fan-favorite guard, or will McBride be the surprise trade candidate that helps reshape New York’s roster?
