Melbourne United has secured former Minnesota Timberwolves center Jesse Edwards for the NBL26 season, the team announced.

The 213cm big man, known for his 226cm wingspan, brings a reputation as a strong dunking and shot-blocking presence. Edwards, who spent last season split between the NBA and G League, is currently representing the Netherlands in 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifying games and will join United ahead of the NBL Blitz.

“I’m very excited to join Melbourne United,” Edwards told Melbourne United Media. “Obviously the team has been one of the best teams in Australia for a while and the NBL itself I’ve heard great things about. Just to be able to play with such a good team and such a good organisation, it’s exciting.”

The Amsterdam-born center developed his game at IMG Academy in Florida before starring at Syracuse University, where he was named to the 2023 ACC All-Defensive Team. He finished his college career at West Virginia, averaging 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in 2023–24.

Although undrafted in 2024, Edwards signed a two-way deal with the Timberwolves. He appeared in two NBA games and 34 G League contests for the Iowa Wolves, posting 11.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 63.5 percent from the field.
