The Los Angeles Lakers have hired Jeremy Holsopple as their head strength and conditioning coach, NBA insider Marc Stein reported on X.

Holsopple arrives after serving as Dallas’ athletic performance director and earning recognition as the NBA’s top strength and conditioning coach in March 2021.

The move signals the Lakers’ emphasis on year-round player health and load management ahead of the 2025–26 season. Holsopple’s background in elite athletic performance suggests a focus on conditioning, recovery protocols and tailored training for NBA workloads.

Holsopple will join a Lakers staff led by head coach JJ Redick and a veteran coaching team that includes Scott Brooks and Nate McMillan.

The hire gives the organization a dedicated performance leader as it balances championship aspirations with the realities of veteran minutes.

Los Angeles has several veteran players whose availability and durability are mission-critical, making modern sports science a priority.

A specialist with Holsopple’s résumé typically oversees periodized strength plans, in-season load monitoring and individualized rehab strategies.

The Dallas athletic performance director role put Holsopple in charge of interdisciplinary work with trainers, medical staff and coaches. That collaborative model is one the Lakers have leaned on before, and Holsopple’s arrival suggests continuity in that integrated approach.
