The Boston Celtics are expected to keep Anfernee Simons available in trade discussions until the February 5, 2026 trade deadline, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer’s report on Marc Stein’s Substack, The Stein Line.

Simons, 26, was traded to Boston on July 7, in exchange for Jrue Holiday. He is in the final year of his four-year, $100 million contract.

The guard has established himself as a consistent scorer and playmaker during his career, averaging 15 points and 3.3 assists per game over seven NBA seasons. Last season, he averaged 19.3 points and 4.8 assists per game with Portland before the trade.

Simons has playoff experience but has yet to start in the postseason. He has played 15 playoff games with Portland, averaging 4.7 points in limited minutes.

With the trade deadline still months away, teams interested in adding a reliable scorer could engage with Boston on potential deals involving Simons.
