Damian Lillard has applauded Devin Booker’s commitment to the Phoenix Suns following the All-Star’s new maximum contract extension.
“He’s standing on his square about what he wants to accomplish. It’s not about what everybody else is doing. He’s standing on what he wants to do and who he is, and I think that’s the most important thing,” Lillard said when asked about Booker’s loyalty, via Duane Rankin.
Booker, 28, agreed to a two-year, $145 million extension that keeps him in Phoenix through the 2029-30 season. The deal sets a new NBA record for the highest annual salary.
Including his existing contract, Booker is now locked in for five years and $316 million. The agreement marks his third extension with the franchise that drafted him 13th overall in 2015.
Over a decade in Phoenix, Booker has become the face of the organization and recently passed Walter Davis as the team’s all-time leading scorer. He has earned four All-Star nods and three All-NBA selections during his career.
This past season, Booker averaged 25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds across 75 games while shooting 46.1% from the field.
In the playoffs, Booker has been a consistent force, averaging 28.0 points over 47 career postseason appearances while shooting 48.6% from the floor and nearly 39% from three-point range.
