Australian forward Akoldah Gak is joining the Washington Wizards after agreeing to an Exhibit 10 deal, according to a report from ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.
The 23-year-old has spent the past several years developing across Australia’s NBL, semi-professional leagues, and most recently the NBA G League. He played the 2024–25 G League season with the Mexico City Capitanes, appearing in 12 games and averaging 4.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 19.3 minutes per contest.
Gak also suited up for the Wizards during the 2025 NBA Summer League. In three games, he posted averages of 4.7 points and 4.0 rebounds on 45.5% shooting from the field, while adding 1.7 assists per outing.
Born in Australia to South Sudanese parents, Gak began his professional career in 2020 with the Illawarra Hawks in the NBL. Initially rostered as a development player during the 2020–21 campaign, he later secured a full contract and remained with the club until 2023.
In between NBL seasons, Gak had stints in NBL1 competitions, including the Southern Districts Spartans in the North Conference and the West Adelaide Bearcats in the Central Conference, where he was named the U23 Player of the Year in 2024.
An Exhibit 10 contract gives Gak the opportunity to participate in training camp with Washington. If waived, he could earn a bonus by joining the team’s G League affiliate, Capital City Go-Go, for the season.
